Things you may want to ask
Where are Pumula pads manufactured?
All of our mats are made right here in Durban, Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. We are proudly South African!
How long will my Pumula pad take to be delivered?
We make all of our pads to order. Please allow 7-10 working days.
What makes a Pumula pad so very tough that you dare to call them 'Africas toughest camping mat'?
Our foam cores are made from quality high density open cell foam with a medium softness. The foam is then wrapped in heavy duty 550g PVC coated fabric and thermobonded on all seams. The fabric is thick and extremely hard wearing. We also use the same valves used on inflatable boats. We dare you to go out and sleep on the roughest terrain you can find.
Is it a self inflating mattress?
The Pumula pad is not technically self inflating. You compress as much air as you can when you roll it up and the air is pushed out of the valve. This allows it to be rolled up slightly more compactly as the foam is compressed. When you open the valve it does 'somewhat' unroll itself and self inflate as the foam regains it's shape but we'd hardly say that this is the main selling point of the pad.
What are the rolled out dimensions?
When open the pad is 75mm thick, 65cm wide and 1.9 metres long.
How small does it roll up?
Rolling the Pumula pad does take some practice but if rolled up tightly dimesnions would be 30cm in diameter x 65cm wide.
Is it waterproof?
Yebo! Yes for sure! Waterproof, dust proof, stain proof and generally life in Africa proof. It's as comfortable to float on in chilled sections of the river as it is to sleep on a rocky river bed.
Will it work if a giant thorn penetrates it's hardy skin?
Of course, the comfort comes from the foam inside not from any air that may be sucked in. If you do puncture it, seal the hole up with some duct tape until you can send it to us for repair. You do really have to work hard to puncture these mattresses though!
My Pumula has a hole or tear. Can you repair it?
Now how did you do that? These things are borderline unbreakable.
In the event that you have somehow tortured your mat to this degree, send it to us by courier(at your own cost) and we will repair it for you. If it is just a small hole or tear in the cover then we will fix it for free but if you've been downright negligent the we'll quote you for a repair as economically as we can.
